Hi guys, I hope you and your families are well? I am really looking forward to welcoming you all back […]READ MORE -
For those of you that know, I have been receiving treatment to realign my TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) since the end of November 2016. Along the way I have learnt so much about how my body has been functioning, or should I say, it was more dysfunctional. I discovered that due to a trauma as a toddler I suffered a cranial distortion, which led to and has exacerbated the alignment problems that I have lived with for years. The appliance that I have been wearing (day & night) to rectify this has altered my TMJ dramatically. It has brought my lower jaw forward, altered my bite, which has eased muscular tension in my neck down to my lower back. I have also benefitted from improved lymphatic function and a decrease in the fatigue I was experiencing.
Phase 2 of the treatment commenced yesterday, to say it was a huge flashback to my teenage years would be an understatement. I am now the proud owner of a brace on my top teeth (to be shortly followed by one on my bottom teeth) Yep, I’ve got the full ‘train-track’ thing going on. The re-alignment of my teeth will aid the stability of the jaw work that I have already received and eventually give me straight teeth, something I have longed for. All good stuff that I am really looking forward to seeing and experiencing the changes that are going to come about.
My case of TMJ dysfunction is quite extreme and therefore the treatment I am having is necessary to correct it. A Bowen treatment can help solve many TMJ issues and in my own clinic one of the first assessments is to examine the TMJ. Results are normally instant and long standing.
